1 - Special Duties

As office holders in various areas of school life, students are expected to perform extra duties.  Thus monitors, prefects, Headboys/girls, team captains etc are obliged to perform extra duties within and/or outside of school hours.

In addition, every student should be ready to perform special duties allocated to him/her by the school: e.g. being ushers on school functions, performing backstage support in a school play etc

2 - The House System

Bloomfield Hall schools operate the House system and students are allocated to Houses.  The House system in most schools starts after Class 4.
House rules are given to students by Housemasters/mistresses.
Students are expected to attend all events including games practice organized by their Houses.

3 - Sports and PE

Participation in sports (including swimming) and PE is compulsory for all able-bodied students.
No pupil is exempted from PE without a valid/genuine written reason by the parents. In emergency situations the teacher/head may decide that the child is not fit to participate.

4 - Snacks

All pupils up to Class 4 are required to bring their own snacks and flasks containing water/juice etc.  Canteen facilities are not available to pupils up to Class 4.

5 - School Magazine

Bloomfield Bias is the annual school magazine.  Each student is issued a copy of the magazine for which (s)he is charged.  The charge is part of the lump-sum amount collected with the 1st instalment.

6 - Selection for Competitive Events

Competitions in debate, sports etc are held at various levels: Inter-Class, Inter-House, between different Bloomfield Hall schools and between Bloomfield Hall and other schools.  The selection of team members for these events is based upon merit and is decided by the relevant members of staff.

7 - Inter-City Competitions

Bloomfield Hall schools operate in a number of cities in Pakistan.  Various competitions between schools in different cities are held each year.  Selected students are expected to travel to other cities in order to participate in these events.

9 - Inter-city Transfer of Staff

A member of staff transferring to another city will be taken on by a branch of BH in that city if a vacancy exists and at the discretion of the Head.

10 - Intra-city student transfer

Over the last few years, Bloomfield has established schools in different cities, but in some large cities several branches or sister schools exist side by side.  The following rules have been designed to facilitate communication between sister schools in a city. Heads are required to follow the rules for the healthier functioning of the system:

A student of any one branch /BH school wishing to transfer to another branch/BH sister school in the same city, is accepted by the ‘destination’ branch if a written approval/recommendation is given by the Head of the ‘original’ branch/sister school.  The Head of the destination branch/sister school accepts only if a vacancy is available.

11 - Lost Property

Items (clothing/lunch boxes/books etc) left behind by students are kept by the school for pupils or parents to claim back within a week. The school cannot store lost property indefinitely; items not claimed within a week are normally sent to local charities.

12 - First Aid

In case of an ailment such as stomachache, fever or headache, the pupil is sent to the school administrator who takes the following steps:

It is therefore essential that parents inform the school of any medicines that the pupil is NOT to be given
In case of injury, the child may be taken to the nearest hospital and parents contacted immediately.

13 - Transport to and from School

Parents are responsible for making transport arrangements for their own children.  However, the school assists parents in this regard.  The school recommends van-operators who are willing to provide the transport facility exclusively to Bloomfield Hall pupils and are considered to provide a reasonable service at a reasonable price.  Parents are, however, advised to contact the van drivers/operators themselves if they wish to use these vans.

Beyond this, the school does not take any responsibility in this regard.

Transport operators do not normally offer the service during exams or on days when functions are held.  Parents are advised to make special transport arrangements during these periods

15 - Change of Address

Any change of address or telephone number must be communicated to the school office immediately.

16 - Documents for student files

The school requires a new up-to-date passport size photo of the student at the beginning of Reception, Class 2, and Class 5.
Parents are to provide any documentation, which is required to complete the student’s file maintained by the school.
